Stages of Imbalance


According to Ayurveda, there are six stages of imbalance -
  • Accumulation of dosha/s (Sanchaya)

  • Aggravation of a dosha/s (Prakopa)

  • Spread of the dosha to other parts of the body (Prasara)

  • Localization is when the aggravation spreads away from its original location in the body (Sthana Samshraya)

  • Disruption in the body (Vyakti)

  • The last stage is when the disease manifests & takes a life of its own (Bheda).

The big difference between modern medicine and Ayurveda is the fact that the former treats the manifested symptoms while the latter identifies the reason & treats the root of the problem instead of only the affected part of the body.
