200-Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training

The Course Syllabus

Traditional Hatha Yoga Practice

The early morning practice brings you the traditional style of Hatha Yoga. This practice is built slowly from the first week to the last week. The intensity gets deeper from intermediate to advanced levels of practice.

You will discover Subtle Alignments of every asana with its variations, techniques and tips to practice, which are explored daily in Asana Clinic. As a skilled Hatha Yoga Teacher, you should know the safe practices as well as different levels of teaching the same asanas.

Exploring, practising and getting experience in the Art of Hands-on Adjustments is also essential. These Hands-on Adjustments can enhance your understanding of asanas and the teaching of Hatha Yoga.

You will also be working on building your Self Practice, as this is one of the aspects yoga teachers lack. You will work on the building, tasting the personal practice of Hatha Yoga, the foundation of a Hatha Yoga Teacher.

Build your Self Practice

Practising and teaching go hand in hand. The more you practice, the better your teaching will be. As you evolve as a Hatha Yoga Teacher, building your personal practice gets harder.

During Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, we focus on building your self-practice of Hatha Yoga. It involves how to prepare for self-practices and how to find progress in your personal journey of Hatha Yoga Practice.

The Making of a Hatha Yoga Teacher

It is not sufficient if you practice Traditional Hatha Yoga well.

It is also not sufficient if you know the philosophy of Yoga or even how to teach the asanas.

If you know how to create your own Hatha Yoga Class sequences, then you are a refined Hatha Yoga Teacher.

We discuss the dos & and don’ts of creating Hatha Yoga class sequences, work on the timing of them, find the modifications if required and so on. This is one of the essentials for you on the path to becoming a Yoga Teacher.

The Art of Hands - on Adjustments

It is an important aspect of exploring the skeleton of asanas. As you assist and adjust someone, you will be able to understand the techniques, different body types etc.

It enhances your understanding of asanas in a deeper way. Hands-on Adjustment is an art.

During the training, you will be working on every asana with regards to “how to practice, subtle techniques, modifications, the art of hands-on Adjustments” etc.

Yoga Anatomy

A skilled Yoga Teacher will know how the human body moves and what would be the impact of the movement. If Yoga is a balance between movement and stability, understanding the human system is the foundation for it.

You may not need to know the name of every muscle, but the concepts, systems and methodology of the practice are a must. Yoga Anatomy sessions are focusing on the safe, proper practice of asana and pranayama with a fundamental understanding of Yoga Anatomy.

Teach to Learn

Method of being a Life long student

You become a better Hatha Yoga Teacher when you keep your student within, alive and afresh.

You become a better student when you teach. During the training, you will be teaching every day from Day 2 under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

As you teach, you will have more questions. The more you find questions, your knowledge of Yoga practice gets firm. This is the foundation of finding the Yoga Teacher within.

Learn & Teach Pranayama, Meditation

Pranayamas are always the underrated, most needed part of the practice.

Most often, we do not know how to practice, or we may not have built the taste of regular practice. During the training, we strive to inculcate the regular practice of Pranayama so that it becomes a part of your daily routine.

You will also be required to teach Pranayama. The more you teach, the better your practice will be. It allows you to get a more equipped Hatha Yoga Teacher.

Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers

Ayurveda is an important subject for you as a Yoga practitioner. Starting from understanding body types (Doshas i.e. Vata, Pitta and Kapha) to the kinds of food that you might want to avoid, Ayurveda has a lot to offer for the Yoga practice journey.

A proper understanding (of course, it is just an introduction in teacher training) of Ayurveda will enhance your knowledge of students, their body types and how to get better with our yoga journey. Dr Meghana Narayana (An Ayurveda Doctor - MD in Ayurveda Samhita) will guide you into Ayurveda sessions during this training.

Yoga Philosophy

Yoga Darshana studies

Deeksha Ceremony _edited.jpg

Yoga Philosophy is very fascinating. But when presented/taught bad, it seems boring.

During the training, we discuss Yoga Philosophy not as information, but how it can be implemented in daily life.

It is very transformative to dig the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Chakras, Nadis & Koshas etc.

Pranayamas

Pranayamas/Kumbhakas

Advance Pranayama Practice.JPG

Yoga is a lot more beyond asanas. Often Pranayamas are most neglected, but the most significant dimensions of Yoga journey. You will be practicing traditional Pranayamas/Kumbhakas every day and will be refinning your teaching skills of teaching Pranayamas.

Yoga Kriyas

Yogic Cleansing Techniques

Jalaneti Kriya Practice.jpg

Practicing Jala Neti & Trataka are significant as they enhance your ability to purify respiration and enhance the focus of the mind respectively.

These are the two major tools we require on the path of Yoga.

Dharana & Dhyana

Traditional Meditation Techniques

Meditation.jpg

Your asana practice is a proper foundation to build the state of meditation within.

For a yoga Practitioner, it is one of the most significant aspects to cultivate the habit of meditating properly every day.

If you are interested in deepening the practice and possibly planning to take this passion of teaching Hatha Yoga as your profession, this course is for you.

Even if you are not interested in taking this teaching Hatha Yoga as a profession, Hatha Yoga Teacher Training can still be a good idea as it offers a complete immersion into the practice & teaching of Hatha Yoga.

Student Reviews

Tania Das

Completed my 200hrs Hatha YTTC from Samyak Yoga. It was such an enriching experience. I'd like to list a few points so that you can make up your mind-
1. The Ashram is located in lush green by the Cauvery river.
The accommodation was great, the rooms were well-lit, comfortable and felt at home.
Now the food was simple, non spicy, easy to digest with vegan options. Cooks were creative to make a variety of dishes; they set chat counters as well.
2. The most important thing is TRAINING. Teachers are super knowledgeable, well versed in Sanskrit literature/language, helpful, compassionate and professional. Gained in-depth knowledge about Asana and Pranayama.

Hands on adjustment classes and practice teaching classes prepare you take class in real environment. You will feel confident to take class after 4th week.

3. The over all ambience felt comfortable, secured and safe. Teachers are gender sensitive and non-judgemental. It's perfect for students across gender.
If I could do justice with rating I would have given it 50 star out of 5. I spent most memorable time of my life learning and growing as a person here. The place is divine. So if you are planning to learn this is perfect place.

Tejeshri Samyak Yoga Review.jpg
Tejeshri Gawade

Samyak is one of the best yoga schools where you learn yoga in a traditional method with a peaceful environment. Safe for solo travelers 😊. The yoga school is located near the banks of Cauvery river and is surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Yogacharya Rakesh is extremely knowledgeable and imparts his knowledge/wisdom with kindness, humbleness and with a sense of humor.

The 200 hr-Hatha yoga teacher training course at Samyak is a holistic and well structured course that goes beyond learning, teaching and correcting physical yoga poses or asanas. Curriculum included morning yoga practice, asana clinic, anatomy, pranayama techniques, class sequencing and philosophy.

Each student was given enough attention during all classes. Samyak embraces people of all body types, ages and backgrounds. Nagendra and Kamal are talented teachers with alot of wisdom and each have unique style of teaching.
The rooms are clean and spacious enough to do your personal practice. The chefs were very considerate and made a variety of tasty wholesome dishes, including plant-based (vegan) options.
I will recommend Samyak to anyone who wants to learn how to teach or deepen their personal practice. It was an honor to learn from Rakesh and I am grateful for the heartwarming experience Samyak gave me. I am already looking forward to coming back soon. 🙏 ❤️
